Info I could use some help.
The strategy section of the article is incomplete. Try finishing off the section by adding your own walkthrough/guide how it could be done.

The Buccaneer Program is the 6th level/channel of Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko. The level takes place on a pirate ship. Here Gex's outfit is that of a pirate, complete with eyepatch, hook and pegleg. Gex uses cannons in this level.

Setting and inspiration[]

On a cursed ship with undead pirates, and killer rats, plus annoying parrots suffering scurvy, where Gex must master the ways of the 16th century where pirates roam the seven seas. Here, there's reference to piracy in the Caribbean back in the 17th and 18th centuries and its depiction in popular culture, such as the Pirates of the Caribbean series. The level's name is a play on the film Cut-Throat Island.

Easter Egg[]

Like Marsupial Madness, this level contains a mysterious cube Easter egg. However, the method for activating this Easter egg has currently not been solved and is only accessible via cheats. Out of bounds from the ship's bowsprit, there are two wooden platforms floating in the void. On the one platform, there is a barrel of gun powder, a pile of cannonballs, and a canon. The other has a floating cube that has been textured with a baby face tile. Inside of the cube is a Purple Fly TV that spawns an infinite amount of 1-UP flies when hit. This Power-up TV can be accessed by destroying the cube, either by shooting it with the canon or (presumably) hitting it with Gex's tail. Once the player has had their fill of 1-UP flies, they can return to the level by stepping on the paw print platform to the left.

This Easter egg was first discovered by Burningskull2123, but video of the Easter egg was recorded and uploaded to YouTube by Tigame on November 16th, 2018. While the Easter egg is currently only accessible via cheats, it is possible that the Easter egg can be activated/accessed naturally in the game. This is evident by the fact that another paw print platform spawns when returning back to the ship. Stepping on this paw print platform will take the player back to the Easter egg area. It is also possible that the method for activating this Easter egg was removed or not included in the final game. However, the Easter egg itself was not removed. This is possible due to the returning paw print platform stopping inside of the newly spawned platform. This "glitchiness" with the platforms suggests that this Easter egg may have been unfinished, or that the developer did not expect the player to reach the area without them and did not account for this. It is unknown whose baby this is, but it is most likely the baby of the same developer that made the Marsupial Madness Easter egg. This is also the same baby from The Umpire Strikes Out Easter egg in Gex: Enter the Gecko, albeit aged by about a year or two.

Perhaps a clue to solving this Easter egg can be found on an archive of Crystal Dynamic's old website. In a description of the game, the developers mention that there are "a few extra bells and whistles added in." Since one of the Easter eggs was found in Marsupial Madness, a level containing bells, perhaps this Easter egg can be activated by locating or using whistles in the level. Or perhaps this "whistle" clue applies to a different cube Easter egg that has yet to be found. This comment by the developers could also just be a coincidence, and not an actual clue on how to find some of the game's Easter eggs.

Trivia[]

  • The level's name, Cutcheese Island, is a reference to the 1995 swashbuckler movie Cutthroat Island.
