Lake Flaccid is the first sub-hub of Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko. The levels in this hub are far more action-packed than those of the previous hub. Tut TV, Army Channel, Western Station, and The Buccaneer Program are all located in this hub. In addition, the first boss level of the game, WWGex Wrestling, can be found here as well.

Layout[]

The hub, as the name implies, is based around a shallow lake in the middle of a canyon, but otherwise has no relation to the Lake Placid films for which it is named after. Beaches and various structures such as mines, a toilet shed, and an oil tower surround the lake. The lobby for Tut TV is located inside of a pyramid. The lobby for the Army Channel is located inside of a bunker behind the waterfall. The lobby for Western Station is located inside of one of the mines while Braveheartless (Temple of Gloom in the N64 version) is located in the other. The lobby for The Buccaneer Program is located inside of a wrecked pirate ship. The TV for WWGex Wrestling is located on top of a rock structure next to the hub entrance. It is accessed by jumping through a giant green locker.

Trivia[]

  • Interestingly, going through the level select through the debug menu, the level id for Lake Flaccid is listed as GEXCAVE5 opposed to Mission Control having the level id GEXCAVE6, which implies that this hub area was the first one ever created and being the most complete. Despite, being the second area you visit in the game.
  • In December 30th, 1998 prototype, The Pole appears in Lake Flaccid hub opposed to the Mission Control hub.
  • The prototype room, interestingly occupies Mystery TV and PS1 Mythology Network levels in this build to test out the TV triggers. This implies that those levels along with Holiday Broadcasting were the first levels being worked on.
